Commission on English Language Accreditation
The Intensive English Program at WVU is pleased to announce that at the conclusion of a three year study the Intensive English Program (IEP) received accreditation by the Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA). The IEP has a long history of excellence of instruction and commitment to student success whether students matriculate to university or return to their lives abroad in various careers. The IEP has held accreditation in the Consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs since 2011, as well as Higher Learning Commission accreditation through the University for many years.
CEA certification confirms the demonstration of a variety of disciplinary standards. Quality instruction and program services, measurement of student achievement, rigorous curriculum, as well as quality of facilities were among the many criteria the Intensive English Program had to prove in order to receive CEA accreditation.
“Director Stacy Fint observed that this accreditation process communicates the seriousness and rigor of WVU’s English instruction, and provides a comprehensive understanding of the program’s strengths and areas for improvement in the future. She believes this reflection on teaching practice and student service is a vital part of any growing and evolving instructional program” (OGA).
